Alana is our lead Governor for safeguarding at Beech Grove Primary. 

Alana is very involved with our school and frequently visits to speak to the children and staff. We are delighted to have her support and expertise as we continue to develop our practice at Beech Grove. 

Alana says: As a deputy headteacher in a secure children's home, safeguarding is at the forefront of my everyday job. I am passionate about ensuring children and young people feel safe, heard, valued and respected and I am proud to take on this area within my Governor role at Beech Grove. 

I have worked with young people throughout my whole career in various roles from youth work, sports coaching and teaching within mainstream, specialist and secure schools. This have given me vast experience and appreciation for the importance of safeguarding, early intervention, crisis response as well as the policies and procedures surrounding it.

I regularly participate in training to keep my knowledge up to date including Level 3 Safeguarding, PREVENT, FGM and Safer Recruitment. I have previously been a DDSL in a school setting and have experience in the multi-disciplinary approach to keeping children safe, both in education and within the community as well as supporting the professionals around the child.'
